Why ChanDa Fasteners Hold Up in the Field

A fastener that fits on the bench can still fail in the field. The difference is usually not one dramatic defect, but a series of small decisions: material grade, machining tolerance, heat treatment, finish and inspection.

Material selection

ChanDa selects material for the application, not just for the drawing. Carbon steel covers most pins and bushings; alloy steel is used where higher strength or wear resistance is needed; stainless steel 304 or 316 is specified for wet, marine or food-adjacent environments. The material grade is confirmed with the quotation and, where required, with a material certificate.

Machining and forming

Pins and bushings are produced by cold forming, CNC turning, thread rolling and grinding. For a stepped shoulder pin, the critical point is concentricity between the thread, the flange and the bearing shaft. For a bushing, it is wall thickness and a clean chamfer so the part slides onto the shaft without damaging a seal.

Heat treatment and finish

Where wear resistance matters, parts can be induction hardened, carburized or nitrided. Surface finish is chosen for the environment: blue-white zinc for general export orders, yellow zinc for a thicker coating, black oxide for precision linkages, and hot-dip galvanizing for outdoor or high-moisture use.

Inspection and packing

Critical dimensions are checked against the drawing before shipment. Parts are packed to protect the finish: polybag-lined cartons, sorted bags or retail-ready sets, then palletized for export. The packing method is agreed with the quotation so the parts arrive in the same condition they left the factory.

What this means for buyers

A repeatable fastener program depends on a supplier that can hold the same material, tolerance and finish from order to order. If you are comparing samples, check the drawing, the inspection record and the packing — not only the unit price.
